Uniting South Port
UnitingCare South Port is now part of Uniting Vic.Tas – the community services organisation of the Uniting Church in Victoria and Tasmania. We are 24 Uniting Church agencies that have come together to combine our resources and experience for greater change. We work alongside people of all ages in local communities across Victoria and Tasmania. Working together we can do this more effectively for more people.
We target the issues that can lead to personal or financial hardship, family stress or breakdown – tackling them upfront before problems take hold.
Every child has the right to live and grow safe from harm. We work alongside children, young people and their schools to develop their skills that strengthen their relationships and life skills that will enable them to thrive.
We believe that our youth development programs – centred on education and community connection – are fundamental to the successful transition from childhood to adulthood. Through our two in-school programs, BOLT (Bicycles Over Lunchtime) and COLT (Cooking Over Lunchtime), we help young people navigate this difficult phase by developing a sense of personal competence and usefulness, belonging and empowerment.
Introduced in 2013, our BOLT program now operates across 27 schools, giving young people valuable life skills through bike maintenance activities.
Our COLT program educates older primary school children experiencing food insecurity about nutrition, cooking, hygiene and food management.
We work to empower people with the information, skills and tools they need to live a healthy, happy life. People experiencing the effects of poverty often need support while they focus on building brighter days ahead. We provide a range of services including material aid, meals, back-to-school costs, bill payment assistance and financial counselling to people living in disadvantage. Our Emergency Relief services help empower vulnerable members of our community and help them combat the effects of poverty.
Our op shop is conveniently located at 115 Bridport Street, Albert Park – operating Monday to Friday between 10.00 a.m. and on Saturdays between 10.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m.
The shop provide an independent stream of funds to support our Emergency Relief and Youth Services programs, which helps Uniting South Port provide much needed support for vulnerable people in our community.
We operate in 4 locations including South Melbourne, Port Melbourne, Albert and Middle Parks. You can use the map to find descriptions and contact details for each location.
