Uniting Winter Share Appeal

The number of homeless and struggling families is set to grow amid poor living circumstances and financial pressures.

Enquiries to Uniting Vic.Tas emergency relief centres have grown significantly over the last 12 months with more people requiring material aid such as food, vouchers and child education support.

These are people like Naomi, who came to Uniting when she was suddenly forced from her rental home by the landlord. Having lost her husband a few years before and with three children to look after, she had nowhere else to turn.

Uniting's emergency relief services provided her with food and clothes, and found her and her family a place in crisis accommodation.

In the last financial year, our service centre in Ringwood alone has had over 10,000 instances of families and individuals presenting at our service – many coming in for the first time. In the past three years we have seen an average increase in requests of approximately 10% annually across our crisis and homelessness services.

You can help Naomi and others in her situation across Victoria and Tasmania.

$25 can fill a shopping bag with groceries for a family in crisis

$40 can provide a session with a dedicated support worker

$100 can assist a family with Emergency Accommodation for one night
